Dead Outlets Caused by a Downstream Wiring Fault
Several outlets had lost power because the GFCI protecting the circuit had tripped. Careful outlet and GFCI troubleshooting found that a neutral conductor farther downstream had been nicked and was touching the grounding conductor.
Result: The damaged wiring was located and corrected so the GFCI and affected outlets could operate properly again.
